Chairman's Welcome
Dear Friends: It is my pleasure to introduce our new publication, TLC Times. Our plan is to make the newsletter quarterly. TLC Times will cover key issues, updates on activities, announcements, and upcoming calendar of events. This has been an extremely busy and productive year for TLC. In May, we kicked off our executive briefing series, the first one which took place in San Jose, California. The briefings are designed to inform the local Hispanic leadership on topics of interest. In San Jose, we discussed international trade, access to capital and benefits to our corporate and coalition partners. Upcoming executive briefings will take place in New York City and Miami. We've also recently revamped our Web site. Please be sure to stop by regularly to stay up to date on the latest information about our activities, announcements, etc. I am also pleased to report that we continue to grow our list of partners, both in the non-profit and corporate sectors. In the process, we are increasing our network of organizations who share our goal of empowering the Latino community and advocating our their behalf. We expect the remainder of 2008 to continue with an aggressive and exciting agenda. We are working every single day to build communities and partnerships on behalf of the Latino community. Thank you for your support.
Sincerely, Hector V. Barreto

TLC Launches "Exito" Program
As part of an ongoing effort to aid the Hispanic small business community, The Latino Coalition has partnered with Image Direct to create Exito, an ongoing, multi channel direct marketing outreach program targeting Hispanic owned small businesses nationwide at a critical time. Each and every week, there are over 20,000 Hispanic owned small business either starting or growing, looking for important information, discounts and special promotions, of product launches and unique services.
The latest statistical reports show that Hispanic buying power in the U.S. is about to reach $1 trillion and there are already about 2 million Hispanic owned small businesses, with 500,000 starting annually. Exito will help you reach them quickly and cost effectively. That, coupled with TLC's credibility assures you will reach ready-to-buy individuals.
Exito focuses on "just in time" marketing and starts with the freshest data available and the quickest turnaround for initial communication with the audience. The program mails weekly to ensure your message reaches the target audience at that critical time when they are more likely to purchase your products or services. TLC Supports ED in 08
TLC is supporting ED in 08, a campaign to unite all Americans around the crucial mission of improving our public schools by elevating the discussion to a national stage. The goal of ED in 08 is to seek a debate on education reform by every presidential candidate by asking them to addresses three priorities:
- Agreeing on American education standards
- Providing effective teachers in every classroom
- Giving students more time and support for learning
The campaign will not support or oppose any particular candidate for public office or any political party.

Aflac's Volunteer Benefits Lessen Anxieties
When a medical emergency strikes, it is often without warning and leaves families scrambling. With Aflac's volunteer benefits, policyholders receive cash benefits to help cover the expenses like co-payments, mortgage, groceries, and car payments while employees are away from work recovering from an injury or illness. Including Aflac voluntary benefits as a part of employees' financial planning may help with those expenses that can be incurred from an unexpected health emergency. For businesses, adding voluntary benefits can help recruit and retain employees by bolstering benefit packages at little to no cost to the business. For more details on Aflac's volunteer benefits, contact Vilma I. Salaverria, VP Multicultural Marketing, at 706-243-5325 or via emial at salaverria@aflac.com |

ZANA Network Offers Sales Opportunities for Small Businesses
Small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) in the United States create over half of the new jobs in this country. Yet, the road to researching and acquiring the services and tools they need to start, run and grow their companies is often a bumpy one. ZANA Network, a business portal for SMEs, is designed to help to them sell products and services, build partnerships and access essential services more efficiently.
ZANA Network offers TLC constituents another way to get highlighted in web searches. Registering for a free membership also gives access to U.S. government contracts and high-quality, discounted services like financing for startup, working capital and expansion; health and business insurance; real estate; logistics; international consulting; extended warranties, and many other services and tools. Another benefit to becoming a ZANA Network member is that companies join a community of business owners where they can build alliances and create partnerships.
